The Falanghina vines that produce the grapes destined to become this Vesevo Beneventano Falanghina are indigenous to Campania and it is after one of Campania’s best known landmarks (Mount Vesuvius) that “Vesevo” was named. With vineyards located in the Irpinian hills (inland from Vesuvius itself) a selection of accessibly priced varietal wines are produced.
This Vesevo Beneventano Falanghina was fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation was not conducted to preserve the freshness of the resulting wine.
A lemon colour of good intensity in the glass, this Vesevo Beneventano Falanghina offers fairly pronounced aromas of lemon zest, green apples and a hint of melon. It’s the lemon zest though that comes to the fore on the palate, complimenting the natural crispness and nicely preserved acidity to generate real refreshment and interest. This is a tangy and nicely crafted wine.
