Superb quality and craftsmanship are the hallmarks of Santa Rita, one of Chile's most admired and innovative wine estates.
The “120” series of wines was named after the historic event when 120 soldiers led by General Bernardo O'Higgins took refuge in Santa Rita's cellars in 1814 during Chile's Independence war.
The 120 series is composed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz as well as limited releases such as Viognier, Riesling, Merlot-Shiraz, Shiraz-Malbec and Franc-Cabernet Sauvignon.
These wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, and early bottled to preserve each variety's fruitiness and natural aromas.
The 120 wines are young, fresh, elegant and fruity, perfectly well-balanced with soft tannins and good acidity. Their exceptional value makes them an outstanding choice for rounding out our everyday meals.
Our 120 Shiraz is a rich, elegant and balanced wine. Pungent aromas of ripe red and black fruit are subtly complemented by notes of fresh, black pepper and cloves. On the palate, its well structured and smooth, textured flavour recalls luscious fruit, violets and spices, concluding in a pleasant and persistent finish.
Semi arid Mediterranean climate, with an annual average of 400 mm of rainfall concentrated in the winter. Summers are warm and dry with broad thermal oscillations between day and night. Rain levels
and topography determine the thermal accumulation during the vegetative period. In this strip of land, located at the foothills of the Andes, night temperatures tend to be lower because of the cold air that flows down from the mountains, causing a daily thermal oscillation that can exceed 20 Degrees Celsius. The soils are of alluvial origin, stratified and slightly sloped of medium depth and texture with basic pH.
Fermentation was carried out at 20° - 25º with selected yeasts and a variable maceration depending on the level of extraction desired per batch.
