Medal Winner Wine - Worlds Premier Wines
" Our aim was to create a great wine using a thousand year old wine-making tradition from both regions of Puglia and Abruzzo.
After careful research, our winemaker Filippo Baccalaro successfully found the 5 gifted vines: Montepulciano, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Negroamaro and Malvasia.
Nera that blended in different amounts obtain the final result. Edizione has no vintage as the grapes originate from two different regions; for this reason the wine is named with the progressive number of the vintages produced."
Deep red in colour, with garnet tones. Intense aromas of cherries, prunes, ripe blackcurrant, tobacco and a final toasted note. This wine is full-bodied, soft and rich in tannin with a persistent, long finish showing spicy notes of vanilla and chocolate.
Valentino Sciotti describes this wine as 'a true taste of southern Italy'. Comprising Montepulciano and Sangiovese from the Abruzzi and Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera from southern Puglia, the varieties are aged separately before blending to create a rich, powerful yet eminently drinkable wine.
Grapes for the Cinque Autoctoni are grown in the communes of Colonnella, Ortona, Sava and San Marzano. The Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes are from the Abruzzi while the rest are grown in Southern Puglia. For this reason, the wine is a Vino da Tavola. The wine itself expresses tremendous depth of colour and a powerful, intense nose with perfumes of dark plums, blackberries and a touch of vanilla, cinnamon and mixed spice from the new oak. On the palate, it‘s warm and robust, with chocolate mocha flavours tightly knit with the dark, plummy fruit. Tannins are firm but approachable nevertheless, supporting the ripe fruit right to the finish.
