BenMarco Blend, Argentina

BenMarco wines are gently crafted to showcase the ripe fruit expression of their sustainably-farmed Mendoza vineyards.

They harvest by hand into small boxes to minimise damage to the fruit before fermentation and vinify each variety separately before ageing in new French (50%) and second year American (50%) oak for 11 months. Minimal handling creates wines that speak of their place-dry high desert, plenty of sunshine and poor soils that are perfect for grape growing.

These MALBEC (90%) and BONARDA (10%) grapes are grown at over 3000 feet in elevation where hot days and cool nights allow the grapes to mature slowly and develop ripe, rich and concentrated flavours.

A super premium un-filtered, un-fined, hand-harvested Malbec given the expensive new French oak treatment. Beautiful deep purple colour with perfumed aromas of ripe red fruits and roasted coffee beans. It is lush, full-bodied and penetrating on the palate with loads of chewy, currant jam flavours, bright acidity, and a touch of grip on the almost savoury finish. This wine really unfolds with some air so try not to slurp it down in a rush, and it shows why the Argentine people are in love with Malbec. Some Bonarda was blended in for greater complexity and to achieve better balance. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 Points
