The nose is still shy but the dark cherry notes, some earthiness and a whiff of smoke promise more complex aromas to come.  The palate is slender and elegant in the best Gibbston tradition, with a good core of ripe cherry fruit and bright acidity.  There’s a web of fine tannins providing length and persistence. Drink now if you like the vibrancy of young Pinot.  Leave for several years if you prefer the rounded maturity that comes with age.
