Château Pontet Canet 2012

A large Pauillac estate that can trace its origins back to 1725, when Jean-François Pontet acquired and gave his name to the estate. Now owned by the Tesseron family who are a well known Cognac merchant and who bought the estate in 1975 . The Tesserons also own Château Lafon-Rochet in St-Estephe. Pontet-Canet's 78 hectares of vineyards adjoin those of Mouton Rothschild and are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (63%), Merlot (32%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The potential of the vineyard is now finally being realised, with the discontinuation of machine harvesting, strict selection, investment and improvements in the cellar and the use of much more new oak. This really is a blossoming estate and rising star and certainly one to watch
