Ned Kelly’s Mother, Ellen Quinn was from Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, and arrived in Port Phillip, Melbourne in 1841 with her family as an immigrant. Kelly’s Father, John was from Co. Tipperary, Ireland, and was transported in 1841 to prison in Van Diemen’s Land, Tasmania for stealing two pigs! Upon release from prison, John ended up working on James Quinn’s farm in Victoria. He fell in love with his daughter Ellen. They got married and had 8 children together including Australia’s Most Famous Bushranger- Ned Kelly! Kelly’s Patch is our vineyard named after the Kelly family, whose homestead stood here long before the vines were planted.
Kelly’s Last wish was developed to honour Ned Kelly’s Last Wish finally being fulfilled. On 20th January 2013, 133 years after he was put to death, Ned remains were buried in the consecrated ground near his mother’s unmarked grave, and he was finally at peace.
The Nose exhibits fragrant aromas of violets, sweet plums, and spice. The palate delivers rich and concentrated blackberry fruit along with pepper and spice combined with beautifully integrated French oak. This medium-bodied wine has power, charm, and style, not unlike Ned himself.
Enjoy now or cellar for up to 7 years. Partner with chargrilled steak or a hearty stew.
