WINEMAKER’S NOTES

The grapes that enter our Millantú wine are sourced from different lots selected and identified in our own vineyards located in the Maipo Valley for their higher winemaking potential and for receiving special vineyard management (pruning and canopy) to maximize fruit quality.

The vineyard was irrigated during the latest stage of the ripening process, thus enhancing grape concentration, color, aroma and flavors.
The harvest took place at the end of April and early May. Grapes were 100% handpicked as a way to maintain the quality and integrity of the clusters.

Grapes were de-stemmed and placed in stainless steel tanks for pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation took place at controlled temperature between 25 and 29°C, with select yeasts. Following alcoholic fermentation, each variety was aged separately in fine-grain French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months before mixing the final blend, assessing the evolution of each individual barrel.

SOIL TYPE

Our Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from soils in the Andean foothills that feature a loam-clay texture, gravel and low fertility. Drip irrigation techniques. Carmenère and Cabernet Franc grow on well-drained soil of alluvial origin, which helps improve the balance and root formation of the plant.

CLIMATE

Dry, with good luminosity during the harvest period. The influence of the breezes from the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains moderate the temperature oscillation between day and night, thus enhancing the concentration of aromas and flavors of the grapes.

AGING POTENTIAL

6 to 8 years

HARVEST DATE

End of April and early May

TASTING NOTES

Bright purplish ruby red color with orange hues.
Very expressive and intense on the nose, with black fruit, plum and spices like cinnamon, clove and vanilla. Great volume and persistence in the mouth, with smooth, round tannins. A classy wine with an excellent aging potential that will gain in complexity as it spends time in the bottle.
