2004 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion Pessac Leognan Graves Bordeaux France.
La Mission often rivals its First Growth sibling in terms of quality, but fortunately not price, and we think this wine certainly gives Ch. Haut-Brion a run for its money this year.
This is a blend of 55% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet France.
At our tasting, it showed intoxicating aromas of tobacco, minerals, mint, red fruits, and smoky toasty oak, while the flavours were more reminiscent of spicy raspberries and cream.
Very fresh and full on the finish with some firm tannins.
La Mission Haut Brion belongs to the Clarence Dillon portfolio who also own Haut Brion although they have not always been sibling properties.
Second wines are called La Chapelle de La Mision Haut Brion for the red and La Clarte de Haut Brion for the white.
They also produce La Tour Haut Brion
